Yep, lived on a floating house and kayaked around.
Below is the grocery store. A couple boats drive around and you pick out your stuff.
The neighbors in the next floating house invited us over to hang out. My Vietnamese is non-existant, but other people with me could hang, so the visit was negotiated.
The way this works is that a few of them run a really hot grill, and we just bring over whatever stuff we had. They mostly just ask questions about New York and California. I had a few questions to ask them back, but their pace was higher. We did get some of the classics. Like “Is NYC really like it is shown on Law & Order?” (Answer: yes, it kind of is, they used to shoot in my neighborhood).
You do get some parts that look straight out of Legend of Zelda or something. Like, look at this lonely temple:
