The Ship Has Sailed
About LLM coding.
I can understand not wanting to review LLM-generated code. That’s the maintainer’s choice. But everyone is benefiting from its use, and you can’t actually use a computer without using something that used it at this point. Whether it’s Go maintainers or engineers at Apple (I know this from a backchannel), you’re using it somewhere. I’m happy that my AirPods Max now seamlessy switch between computers, cars, and phones. I’m happy my podcast app is better.
It’s kind of like those people that are against socialism but also say “don’t touch my medicare”. It’s not a particularly principled stance. Is it ok to use LLMs to find bugs, but not to use them to drive the profiler? There are plenty of good use cases that are not vibe-coded apps or text slop.
